What was your favourite snack when you were a child? Have you heard of Kong Th’ng, Kacang Tumbuk or Peanut Candy. Kong Th’ng is one of my favourite snacks. When was the last time you had Kong Th'ng?
These days , we can hardly find Kong Th'ng. Luckily we found it in Northam Beach Cafe, Penang. If you’re a big fan of this lovely sweet taste of Penang, you’ll be surprised to know you can get this from a stall right in the heart of this beautiful island.

We were lucky to be there when he was making the peanut candy (Kong Th'ng) .Nowadays if you want to buy Kong Th'ng you can only get in the supermarket. However not many supermarkets are selling it and they are manufactured in the factory.

Rolling with his 40-year-old bottle

When we were having dinner in Northam Beach Cafe, we were distracted with the constant banging at a particular stall. The seller, Ang Seng Heong, has been running his Kong Th’ng stall for the past two years. He sells from 8pm – 12 midnight daily. Ang takes five minutes to make two boxes of Kong Th’ng - 1 box contains 10 pieces which he sells at RM8 per box.

It's best to get his permission before photographing his skills and talent of making the Kong Th'ng. Ang acquired his skills from his father who learnt it from his grandfather.

Everything is prepared and made on the spot. Look at his skill

Did you notice the bottle ? The bottle is already 40 years old! Used by his grandfather and it has been passed down ever since! The pounder was a lot bigger , about three times the size of the one he is using.

We were a big fan of Kong Th’ng. Beware! Once you start eating it is very difficult to stop because it melts in your mouth.  It it so delicious. Must go and try it.

Lotus Rice RM 7

Lotus Rice is a very popular dim sum dish served during yum cha hours. We are surprised to come across one served in Lily's Vegetarian restaurant. So we decided to order it. It’s basically sticky rice (which is also known as glutinous or sweet rice) with a savory filling wrapped in a lotus leaf and then steamed. The lotus leaf imparts a fragrant, delicate flavor to the rice.

Lily’s Vegetarian Kitchen, served a variety of vegetarian food ranging from Nyonya, Oriental, Fusion as well as Western to satisfy each customer's craving.

Pick what you like from the menu, write down on the order slip provided, then bring to the cashier to pay. She will give you a numbered plastic Card shown below No.29, then wait for your food to be served. Approximately 15 minutes waiting time.

The food is served deliciously hot and delicious

Auntie recommended us "Char Siu" roll and and the green/yellow dessert. We don't know the name of it.

Kacang Putih has always been on of the many famous malaysian snacks. Nowadays is hard to find Uncle selling kacang putih. Luckily we found him in Bayan Baru just outside Sunshine Square.
Most of us must have eaten and enjoy chewing kacang putih at one time or another during our life time. Some of us may end up having crocked teeth due to over indulgence in chewing kacang putih.

Fruuze Frozen Yogurt @ Straits Quay, Penang

Look at the cup they give you for your yogurt, yummy!

What do you want during a hot day ? Frozen yogurt is the coolest dessert to be eating this summer . Frozen yogurt is a refreshing, tangy dessert that combines the flavors and textures of ice cream and sherbet. Frozen yogurt is a relative new-comer in the dessert market.

The history of frozen desserts dates back thousands of years to Asia where water ices were first made. Although Roman literature describes how the Emperor Nero was treated to exotic fruit juices and wines chilled with mountain snow, it was not until the 13th century that Marco Polo introduced Asian water ices to Italy. The popularity of these frozen desserts spread throughout Europe and within a few centuries, European colonists introduced ice cream in the U.S.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very refreshing on a hot day.

You have a choice of 4 flavours to choose from, once you choose the size pick your toppings from the extensive selections.

Best of all was the wide variety of toppings. They have fruit, syrups, crumbles, cookies, etc. etc.Have never tasted anything more delicious! Great flavors. Yogurt tasted fresh and the place looked very clean.

Yokohama Chinatown Part 1, Japan

$
0
0

Yokohama Chinatown was founded in 1859 when Japan was opened to foreign trade. When the Chinese migrants arrived they established the traditional social institutions such as temples, clan associations and later schools.
Within three years of their arrival, the Yokohama Kanteibyo (Guan Di Miao), 横滨关帝庙dedicated to Guan Gong was established and quickly became a major center for Chinese migrants. This temple still count as one of the most important landmark in Yokohama Chinatown today.
The development of Yokohama Chinatown was affected by the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and the second Sino Japanese War in 1937 when many Chinese migrants returned to China.

After World War Two, conditions for the Chinese living in Yokohama Chinatown improved and are reflected in 1955 when a goodwill archway, or Paifang, was constructed and the area officially recognized as Chinatown.

Today, the Yokohama Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in Japan and in Asia. It is also one of the largest Chinatowns in the world with some sources claiming it to be the second largest. The surrounding streets and train stations have prominent signs to lead visitors towards the Chinatown. Inside the Chinatown, some of the streets are named after places in China such as the Shanghai Street, 上海路, Chang An street (modern day xian) 长安道, Fujian Street 福建路and Suzhou Street苏州小路.

Along the streets of Chinatown, you can find a wide range of Chinese restaurants, shops offering Chinese pastries, dim sum, dumplings and bao (Chinese buns). These are located alongside shops offering Chinese souvenirs. There are also shops offering food ingredients and foodstuffs required for preparation of Chinese dishes.

Yokohama Chinatown is one of the most visited tourist sites in Japan and even have a special visitor center call “Chinatown 80”offering information, maps and brochures. Although tourism plays a large role in the economy of Yokohama Chinatown, it is a living Chinatown and takes into consideration the economic and cultural needs of local stake holders. This is best illustrated in the founding of Mazu temple instead of a residential complex following feedback from the local stakeholders.

Yokohama Chinatown in Japan has hundreds of shops, restaurants and street vendors selling food and trinkets. The fact that it’s just 45 minutes away from Yokosuka Naval Base only sweetens the deal. One of the most popular foods in Yokohama Chinatown is xiaolongbao, a steamed dumpling filled with soup and meat. The xiaolongbao shops show videos of people failing to eat them properly and shooting hot broth at their friends. They’re tricky to eat, but they’re delicious.

It’s interesting to experience Chinese culture, even if it’s filtered through a Japanese sensibility. The streets are very clean and there’s almost a theme-park feel, especially in some of the themed food courts where dining areas are decorated like sets from a kung-fu movie. While the food might be the most obvious selling point, Yokohama Chinatown is also the place to go if you want to buy a Bruce Lee track suit for a baby or get your palms read on the side of the road.

Japanese tourists are generally interested in the food, and Yokohama's Chinatown has lots of restaurants. Most of them serve the same items with just a bit of difference in the price. The real important part of your visit's meal is the quality. Do your research before you go and find a place that has good reviews. Most of the highly-themed restaurants serve crappy food to tourists who don't know any better, especially in their all-you-can-eat deals. Its a great place to hang around with friends. And it’s easy to get to — Yokohama Chinatown is located just outside Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line

5 Quick Tips for Saving Battery Android

$
0
0

In this article, we are going to share with you some best ways to saving android battery life

1. Power Saving Mode
If your battery is running low, find the power-saving mode in Settings and enable it straight away. Enable every option that is included within the screen and you should be able to substantially lengthen the amount of time your Android phone or tablet will run for.

2. The Screen
Drop the screen brightness to the lowest setting you are comfortable with. The screen usually uses more baterry than any other part of the device and reducing the brightness will likely have the most beneficial effect of all.

3. Disable 3G
If your phone supports disabling 3G, you should do this if you are able to live without the faster connection for a short while. Having a 2G connection is better than no connection at all when the battery dies. Also disable 4G and use 3G if that is an available option.

4. Use Wi-Fi
If  a hotspot is available and you need to connect to the internet, Wi-Fi is actually much more frugal in terms of power consumption than 3G. When possible, try to enable Wi-Fi for browsing etc when the battery is running low.

5. Learn some lessons
Go to the Battery section in Settings to see exactly how your power is being used. If you can see what is draining the battery, you may be able to adjust your usage so that it lasts longer in the future. Some third- party applications may need need to be deleted fo or deactivated to improve going forward.

Are you ready for the latest LINE GAME , LINE PokoPoko. Boni and all your favorite friends from the popular LINE Pokopang game are back.

LINE PokoPoko is a new puzzle game featuring Boni and a collection of other popular characters from LINE Pokopang, which boasts a total of 37 million downloads worldwide. Boni and the other residents of Poko Forest take center stage in the game. They must save the forest from the evil demons and return peace to their home by getting high scores on each stage and restoring the forest to its natural state by making the flowers bloom. PokoPokocombines the aesthetic of the LINE Pokopang world with a whole new story and addicting puzzle gameplay that will appeal to both existing fans and new players alike.

It’s basically like Candy Crush and easier, I hope.
What Is PokoPoko ?
LINE PokoPoko needs your help to restore the peace to Poko Forest, which has been taken over by demons. Match 3 tiles at a time to clear stages and make the flowers bloom in the forest once more in this non-stop puzzle game.

How to Play
Tap and slide blocks with your finger to move them. Match up 3 or more of the same character block to make them poko-pop! Each stage comes with its own objective (mission) requiring you to clear the stage within a certain number of moves. Battle your way through a variety of stages by reaching target scores, collecting more moves (Apples), and destroying some pretty cool blocks along the way.

Grow Your Own Items!
The game also features a menagerie of Animals that will fight alongside you and even grow items for you that can be used during gameplay. Different Animals grow different items, so be sure find the furry friend that's right for you!

A variety of missions await players, ranging from getting as many points as possible, to eliminating special blocks, and even missions where the number of blocks will increase the longer they remain on the field. Poko Forest is divided up into areas, which themselves consist of multiple stages, and players can receive Cherries, Animals, and other items as rewards for clearing the missions in each area. Two types of Animals can produce items that the player can use during gameplay, and each Animal produces a different type of item.

Take note you need to open the door to the next area. It can be opened with FP, Gems, or Flowers. Ask your friends for help.

Have fun solving these brain-teasing puzzles as you help Boni clear stages and restore the forest to its former glory. Don't forget to keep an eye on his insanely cute antics!

Best Coffee and Best Bagel go where? MugShot Cafe they serve warm and inviting coffee with fresh baked breads, yoghurts, and bagels prepared by hand every day in Chulia Street, Penang. The Rainforest Bakery just next to their own Mugshot Cafe.
The atmosphere is eclectic. The coffee is fresh. The air is oven-kissed. Smells of baking breads, bagels, combine with sounds of engaging conversations, turning newspapers and whispering and chatting. Located in the Chulia street, this unique cafe serves breakfast , lunch and dinner. The counter’s specialty is, of course, gourmet coffee and a variety of bagels.

Hmmm... bagel slightly burned

The crusty ring‑shaped bagel--the word means “bracelet” in German‑‑which was the everyday bread of the Jews in Eastern Europe, has become the most famous Jewish food in America and a standard American bread.

Bacon and Egg bagel RM10

Bagel with Cream Cheese - RM5

Because of their shape-‑with no beginning and no end‑‑bagels symbolize the eternal cycle of life. In the old days, they were supposed to be a protection against demons and evil spirits, warding off the evil eye and bringing good luck.

Sometimes bagels can be referred to as doughnut, considered a much more traditional breakfast food than doughnuts ever will be. But while bagels only seem healthier because they are not deep-fried like doughnuts. Poppy seeds are also added as a flavorful ingredient in bagels.

I really enjoy fresh, homemade yogurt when it turns out right. Must try out the kiwi and fruit & walnut toppings.

Bagel with Turkey Ham & Cranberry Sauce - RM10

It was definitely a fun experience--keeping a hawk eye on the conveyor belt to see if anything interested me, trying to grab it before the table in front of me grabbed it.
Normally people think Sushi they think of RAW fish. Actually if you go into any sushi bar and look at all the seafood choices, only a small handful will be actually raw. Although it might look raw, it has gone through some kind of process. Either pickled, blanched, soaked in Sake and then frozen, there are many things that happen to the fish before you eat it.

Yokohama to Kamakura by Train , Japan

Japan is well known for its supreme train network. In Tokyo, nearly half of all commuters travel by train, compared to transport like cycling, buses and private transport. Those who have experience travelling on Japanese trains should have stories to tell. We love the punctuality, the speed and the cleanliness of the trains.
For first time tourist, buying a ticket on Japanese trains can be confusing. However there are station personnel to assist and guide you. There are plenty of clear sign boards (in English), and maps at every train / metro station. Grab a map from them for free as its a challenge to navigate the Tokyo public transit system for the first time visitor.

Tokyo being a big city, there are many attractions to visit and things to do. Depending on your interests, and how much time you have it is better to prioritize your itinerary.

Despite the complication on travelling by train in Tokyo , I must say that it is a wonderful city to wonder around by walking.
The streets are extremely wide and when you cross the street it is quite safe and easy because they have a pedestrian crossing traffic light. Even when crossing a crosswalk at a green light, pedestrians should take care to watch for vehicles making right or left turns.(don't feel intimated by the large crowd of people crossing at the same time). Tokyo is a great city for walking!

This cake is Doraemon's favourite
Dorayaki is a Japanese traditional dessert, often found in Japanese restaurants and shops. Red bean paste filling (called anko in Japanese) is usually sandwiched between two pancakes. But there are many modern versions of it these days.

All the above pictures were taken on the way from Yokohama Station to Kamakura Station.
Traveling
